Cherry Blossoms in Tokyo

Spring has arrived in Tokyo, and the cherry blossoms (sakura) have started to bloom! These beautiful pink and white flowers only last for a short time, but they create stunning views all over the city.

The photos in this post were taken at two famous cherry blossom locations in Tokyo: Chidorigafuchi and Harimazaka.

Chidorigafuchi: A Famous Sakura Spot Chidorigafuchi is one of the most famous places in Japan to see cherry blossoms. It is a moat near the Imperial Palace, surrounded by hundreds of cherry trees. People can walk along the paths and enjoy the view, or even rent a boat to see the blossoms from the water.

Harimazaka: Cherry Blossoms in the City While places like Chidorigafuchi are well known, you can also find cherry blossom trees along regular streets in Tokyo. Harimazaka, in Bunkyo Ward, is a good example. This road is lined with cherry trees, creating a beautiful tunnel of blossoms. During the sakura season, there are festival decorations and sometimes food stalls, making it a lively place to visit.
